KU Leuven (Master)

Dual Master’s Degree Program with KU Leuven, Belgium

NYCU and KU Leuven (Faculty of Engineering Science, Belgium) have officially signed a dual master’s degree agreement, which is valid until July 31, 2030. This collaboration covers multiple colleges at NYCU, offering students the opportunity to pursue advanced studies in Europe and obtain dual master’s degrees through joint cultivation by both institutions.

Quotas and Eligibility

4+1+1 Dual Master’s Program Structure

  1. NYCU students
    • Eligible: Students in their third year or above at NYCU (from the participating colleges).
    • Pathway:
      • Complete a 4-year bachelor’s degree at NYCU.
      • First year of the master’s program at KU Leuven Faculty of Engineering Science.
      • Second year of the master’s program back at NYCU to complete the dual degree.
  2. KU Leuven students
    • Eligible: Third-year or above students at KU Leuven Faculty of Engineering Science.
    • Pathway:
      • Complete a 4-year bachelor’s degree at KU Leuven.
      • First year of the master’s program at KU Leuven.
      • Second year of the master’s program at NYCU to complete the dual degree.

Degrees and Thesis Requirements

  • Students who fulfill the graduation requirements of both institutions will be awarded a Master’s degree from NYCU and a Master’s degree from KU Leuven.
  • The master’s thesis must be written in English.
  • Thesis research is normally conducted at the host university in the second year, but this can be adjusted upon mutual agreement.

Tuition and Living Expenses

  • Students are exempted from tuition fees at the host university.
  • Other expenses, including accommodation, living costs, insurance, and visa fees, are to be borne by the students.
  • KU Leuven is located in the historic university town of Leuven, Belgium. The cost of living is relatively high; students are advised to plan their finances carefully.

Application Procedures and Timeline

  • Each college at NYCU will nominate candidates to the contact person at KU Leuven Faculty of Engineering Science.

  • Application deadlines at KU Leuven are usually February–March (for Fall semester entry).
