The only International College of Semiconductor Technology (ICST) in Taiwan was officially established at the National Chiao Tung University in the year 2015. The semiconductor industry is currently the largest industry in Taiwan and the most internationally competitive industry in Taiwan. It covers many fields, such as IC, optoelectronics, MEMS, and energy, and even biotechnology. It is the foundation of many advanced technologies.
The Institute adheres to the philosophy of “Let international talents contribute to Taiwan and integrate Taiwanese talents into the international arena”. The whole college curriculum is taught in English and internationalized. We also actively recruit eminent faculty like Prof. Hsiang-Tsung Kung(UCLA), Chengming Hu(UC, Berkley), King-Ning Tu (UCLA), Prof. Hiroshi Iwai (Tokyo Institute of Technology) and many world-renowned academics who serves as a chair professor and visiting professor of internationally renowned schools, bringing the world’s most advanced semiconductor research knowledge and experience.
The joint/dual degree is also one of the characteristics of ICST. We have signed dual-degree agreements with international first-class science and technology institutions such as UCLA in the US, Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan,KU Leuven University in Belgium and Indian Institute of Technology. As long as you pass the dual degree review, you may also get a degree from a well-known overseas science and technology institution.
In addition to excellent teaching professors and dual-degree programs with global institution, industry-university cooperation is also the focus and the development of this college. ICST cooperates with well-known technology companies to set up research centers to promote the implementation of talent cultivation programs, seamlessly integrating the new semiconductor talents with the industry. At present, major manufacturers such as TSMC, Hanmin and Delta have fully supportive plans for the College.
ICST is like a cornucopia. It gathers a pool of internationally renowned academics and famous companies to develop the most advanced research, recruiting top young talents who are interested in entering the semiconductor industry at home and abroad for more productivity, to attract more talents, and to form a positive feedback cycle. ICST expects to contribute to the entire college, the entire country and the world. The first International College of Semiconductor Technology (ICST) in Taiwan, will surely push Taiwan’s semiconductor industry to new heights and become the world’s number one in its kind.
