[International Semiconductor Talents Education Special Program (INTENSE Program)]

Introduction
The Ministry of Education (MOE) of Taiwan launch the “International Industrial Talents Education Special Program (INTENSE Program)” for talents coming to Taiwan for study and employment after graduation. This program integrates government, industry, and university resources to expand the recruitment of International superior industrial talent students. This INTENSE Program in ICST, NYCU first began recruiting students in Fall 2024. We currently target applicants from Vietnam, Indonesia, India, the Philippines, and Thailand, but students of all nationalities are also welcome to apply.

Scholarships

  • Administrative expenses for initial arrival in Taiwan (with attached receipts for reimbursement): one-time subsidy with a maximum of NT$10,000, covering pre-arrival health check fees, visa fees, and document verification fees.

    *Not offered to those who have studied in Taiwan before.

  • One-way flight ticket to Taiwan for initial arrival (with attached receipts for reimbursement): one-time subsidy with a maximum of NT$9,000, based on the most direct economy class one-way ticket.

    *Not offered to those who have studied in Taiwan before.

  • Tuition and miscellaneous fees: subsidized for up to 2 years, with a maximum of NT$50,000 per semester. Before the end of the first semester of the second academic year, students must achieve at least A2 level in both listening and reading sections of the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL), and upon review of academic performance and evaluations from partner companies, top of students will be eligible for tuition and miscellaneous fee subsidies. The submission date of TOCFL certificate will depend on MOE's announcement on the student's second year.

  • Contracted students will receive NT$10,000 per month during the first year of study, with the second-year subsidy upon approval from partner companies.

    1. Students receiving the INTENSE Program scholarship are obligated to work in Taiwan for a specified period after graduation. For instance, those receiving a scholarship for 2 years (equals 24 months) are required to fulfill a 2-year employment (equals 24 months) obligation with the contracting company.

    2. Especially regarding the repayment principles for the government-funded part: If a student changes jobs before completing the required employment obligation, considering the time needed for job searching, the student shall complete in total two-year employment obligation in Taiwan within 2 years and 6 months from the start date of the employment obligation (based on having received the government-funded part for 2 years). If the accumulated period of unemployment exceeds 6 months, the student shall repay the government scholarship in proportion to the number of months not employed.

    3. Detailed regulations regarding the above scholarships, like detailed repayment principles, will be specified in a separate contract signed after admission.
